Jakob Feyferlik

Jakob trained as a dancer at the ballet department of the Vienna Conservatory and at the ballet school of the Wiener Staatsoper. In 2013, he joined the Wiener Staatsballett, where he was – very exceptionally – promoted straight from the corps de ballet to the rank of soloist in 2016. In February 2019, he was promoted to principal dancer following a performance of Rudolf Nureyev’s Swan Lake. In 2019, Jakob Feyferlik performed as a guest principal at Dutch National Ballet’s annual gala, partnering former principal Igone de Jongh in Hans van Manen’s iconic duet Trois Gnossiennes. Subsequently, in December 2019, he also danced the role of the Prince in The Nutcracker and The Mouse King. Following these appearances, the young rising star in the international dance world joined the Dutch National Ballet in September 2020, as a principal dancer.

Roles include Prince Siegfried in Nureyev’s and Nunez’s Swan Lake, Jean de Brienne in Nureyev’s Raymonda, Drosselmeyer/The Prince and Pastorale in Nureyev’s The Nutcracker, The Prince in Wayne Ealing’s Nutcracker and Mouse King, Prince Desiré in Irek Mukhamedov’s Sleeping Beauty, Colas in Frederick Ashton’s La Fille Mal Gardée, Conrad in Manuel Legris’ Le Corsaire, Aminta in Legris’ Sylvia, Lenski in John Cranko’s Onegin, and Franz in Pierre Lacotte’s Coppélia. He danced the roles of Peer Gynt in Edward Clug’s eponymous ballet, The Man (Vaslav Nijinsky) in John Neumeier’s Le Pavillon d’Armide, The Angel in Neumeier’s Josephs Legende, as well as George Balanchine’s Tschaikowski-Pas de deux, Symphony in C, Theme and Variations, Valse Fantaisie, and Diamonds Principal in Balanchine’s Jewels, Armand in Frederick Ashton’s Marguerite and Armand, Oberon in Jorma Elo’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Jerome Robbins’ The Four Seasons (Spring), Nacho Duato’s White Darkness, William Forsythe’s Artifact Suite, and Hans van Manen’s Trois Gnossiennes.

Feyferlik has been the recipient of a number of awards including 2nd place at Premio Roma Danza /2012), 3rd place at the 4th International Ballet Competition in Beijing, China (2012), the Karl Musil Memorial Award (2014), and the Sponsorship Award of the Ballett Club Wiener Staatsoper & Volksoper (2016).
